Traditional styled japanese restaurant with a broad menu and some tasty delicacies. Sake was very good, but in general a bit overpriced but i recommend it

Not sure where some of these recently poor reviews are coming from, but we had a great experience last weekend. Chef’s sushi special was on point. Gyozas were spectacular. The real highlight was my wife’s Yakimeshi and her chicken pabun. Service was good, and the place was delightful. Ambiance enjoyable, particularly with the lighting. We will certainly be back, particularly for more pabuns. Recommend stopping by. kid friendly.

Great addition to the Rio sushi/Japanese scene. Nice range of dishes, well presented, innovative cocktails and decent prices. Why not 5* you ask? The Temaki’s were below par: burrito shaped instead of cone shaped. But more problematic: they lacked crunch and tasted like they were made ahead. Also, the stack of fresh fish in the counter top cooler looked somewhat greyish and over stuffed. I am just very finnicky with raw fish in this climate.

Delicious food and lovely service. Also it's great to see a different proposal on the Japanese food world in Rio. Definitely top recommendation.

Very well prepared food. Highlight for the crayfish sushi. Amazing drinks. Very simple, informal setup which makes it cozy and informal yet charming. The food makes up for the somewhat uncomfortable chair.

Very nice, cool and delicious food. Prices are fair enough for that high quality of products. Great ambience also. Hardly recommend!

Food was bad quality, the feeling was transactional and they don't value their customers. We ordered the Chef's Sashimi and had to spit it out because the fish quality tasted gone off. We politely mention it, the waiter gets the owner or manager and is frustrated and defends the quality. Either way, we say we aren't going to eat it and not happy with the quality for the price and being in upscale neighborhood as Leblon. He hands us the bill, without any discount or taking off the dish on the bill which I believe universally when in hospitality, you try to make it right with the customer. Even sending out another dish to be hospitable. And let me add, the waiter forgot to get two glasses when we ordered a bottle of sake, or two glasses when we ordered water, and completely forgot the bao we ordered. Needless to say, I don't think this place should be supported because they do not value their customers. IT'S A TRANSACTIONAL PLACE. I would not recommend supporting Pabu Izakaya and will use this place as an example to my hospitality clients of what NOT to do.
