I've been trying to contact the U.S. Citizen Services division to make an appt. for special notary services needed - much sooner than later. I tried to call - no success - a circular "push button" frenzy. I went to the online site to make an appt. The calendar indicates that there are no appointments available throughout this year - 2021 (current date Feb 4, 2021). Very disappointed/frustrated with the American Consulate in São Paulo - ease of access to make communication for an important issue.

I was amazingly happy with the treatment offered me! The security people took only a few minutes to double check my appointment and after it was done, everything ran smoothly!

Went to get acknowledgement of my Brazilian born son's US citizenship. They argued with me for bringing documents it said to bring online. Required ridiculous documents that were irrelevant to anything, like my official, sealed, college transcript. What on earth does that have to do with anything. Everyone was rude like it was their prime directive. No one spoke English very well, which seems odd given the location.

When you call they give you about 20 different menu options none of which applied to me. I tried to get in touch with an operator and I could not. I tried connecting with someone by selecting several of the menu options to get directed to the correct place, but no one answers their phone. I tried emailing them and they gave me a generic email back saying go to the website. However, the website doesn't give me the information I'm looking for. I take an hour Uber ride to the consulate to get help, but when I arrive it looks like a prison with a bunch of security guards that don't speak English. I never got within a hundred feet of someone who can speak English because they won't let you through without an appointment. There were several other Americans there in the same exact position as me. Virtually everyone going in was Brazilian. The consulate is mainly there to serve Brazilians and not US citizens hence why it's almost impossible for a US citizen to figure out what to do if you don't speak Portuguese fluently.

I went with my wife, daughter and mother, in this consulate in São Paulo, which we wanted to travel to NY on our vacations. We stayed in queues for 2 days, we left Curitiba to São Paulo, we paid for the hotel. We arrived there the representative of the consul, she just wanted to know about our RELIGION (we are evangelicos) and why I stayed more than 2 months in Switzerland? Being that I stayed 1 month, and this with my own money in Germany and another 1 month in Switzerland, to know the salons of the automobile of the respective countries, which are references in Europe. And to spend vacations, which I gathered money and separated (I organized) to take those 2 months there. I checked rent, an apartment we paid here in Brazil, car own already paid , my studies and my wife, and my daughter here in Brazil. Stability of more than 5 years of my wife who works as a Nurse in a good hospital here, and 1 year of my job in Brazil here. And we still had our visa denied. My intention was to realize a dream of my mother, to feel with this trip, and to our DISCOUNT and disgust for the country that we defended and admired so much, we saw that it is only a deception this visa, serving only to WIN on top of that (seen denied) of thousands of Brazilians. Unfortunately, we did not have decent representatives to defend ourselves against this type of abuse in our own territory. I hope this changes with Bolsonaro and his new government team. I made a formal complaint to the Itamaraty that only regretted this type of behavior on the part of the USA. Shame and indignation.

I am an American citizen with a permanent visa in Brasil. My daughter has moved to Sao Paulo and has been living there for three years; she has a work visa. She met a wonderful Brazilian man at her work, a Christian and well-known for his talks around the country. He went today to get a visa with every document and recommendation and no one even looked at a thing and then had the nerve to say he didn't have proof of adequate ties to Brazil!!! I am furious!! They both to plan to stay at their jobs in Brazil, but he cannot come and meet us here??
